Start 2023 on the right foot

Every January, many people make New Year’s resolutions. Plans to lose weight, exercise more, get more sleep, spend less time on social media and many other commitments that are rarely kept. While all of these are certainly worthwhile goals, we as Christian women should be looking at the new year from a different perspective. What if we resolved to study our Bible more, pray faithfully, surround ourselves with others in the faith, and focus on Jesus like we never have before? How would our lives change?

Make plans to join us on January 8 from 5-7 PM in the Family Life Center as we start 2023 off on the right foot. Cost is $15. Registration deadline is December 22. Seating is limited. Please register now.

Will there be food? Of course there will be food. Enjoy a hot chocolate bar and charcuterie boards, as well as a fun experience painting a seasonal craft. Following this special time of fellowship, we will worship together lifting our voices in praise. Our special guest for the evening will be Jeanne Davis. For most of us at FBC, she is our lifelong friend and the wife of our former Sr. Pastor, Randy Davis.

Jeanne is a fully devoted follower of Jesus, wife, mother, grandmother and a native of Mobile, Alabama. While Jeanne and Randy pastored, she also taught Sunday School, led conferences and served as the women's ministry coordinator. She was born and raised in Roman Catholicism. As a young adult working for a Christian attorney, she discovered she had a lot of religion but no real relationship with Christ. Once she was introduced to the Lord, she rapidly began growing spiritually. From the time she met Jesus to the time she met her future "preacher boy" husband, only a few months passed. Within two years they were married and pastoring their first small church in South Mississippi. While being involved in various ministries throughout the years, Jeanne’s Kingdom passion has always been for mentoring young adults. She taught Bible study for 18 years, encouraged pastor's wives and led women's ministry.

Jeanne and Randy have two adult married daughters, Wendy and Beth. They have three granddaughters and a grandson. She is also the chief encourager for Randy, who is currently the Executive Director of the Tennessee Baptist Mission Board after 34 years in the pastorate.

Be sure to join us as we look to 2023 and discover how we can make it our best year yet!
